PFW: WALKING WORKS-OF-ART AT CELINE!

There’s something utterly humbling about the union between the excellence-of-execution and creative courage and at Paris Fashion Week, Phoebe Philo’s SS14 show for Céline was hallmarked with them!

In a stroke, nothing short of genius, the way of the Céline woman was presented with purpose and clarity. She, too, is confident, courageous and comes with a tall order of class! Accordingly, the shape of things to come are marriages of layered neck/hemlines and preppy elegance, juxtaposed with swathes of free-hand paint-motifs, splashed across a myriad of forms.

Butterflies are still hovering in my stomach at the cell-memory of living works-of-art, which graced the catwalk, bearing witness to boldness of design-flair and aptitude, determined to encourage an attitude of acceptance of one’s indiviuality. Something, no, EVERYthing clicked! The highest quality cut and fit, suited to all body and personality types, ensured that the garments would not only be pleasurable to wear, but render the wearer irresistible to ignore!

In Céline’s quadrant of the universe, colours are Pantone-primaries and prints are full-bleed. Plissé offers a pleasing balance to a textural palette, which plays with selvedge hemlines and fabrics, both opaque and sheer, which dance against the skin.

I swooned (and I don’t swoon easily, ladies and gents!) over the movement captured by the brush-stroke motifs in monochromatic vest tops and Keith Haring-esque colourways in short-sleeved tees. My jaw dropped at the Picasso-power of print-clashing and the modern-art mood, which was canoned in dramatic, asymetric overcoats and slick separates, with equal aplomb.

Heels paid homage to DalÍ, bracelets were statements which spoke in acidic/ fluoro tones and bags gave a nod to the physics class, with their graphic shapes and innovative handles, perfect for accentuating their clutch-ability.

The stillness of molasses-black, leather dresses, ebbed into the cacophony of colour but never stopped the flow. Quite the contrary, in fact, as they served to harmonise the expansively bold sartorial repertoire.

The entire pass nigh-on made me pass out! This was my kinda break-for-the-norm! Exuberant ideas, vibrant expression and every ounce of it borne of a desire to facilitate experimentation which works and versatility which suits all personality penchants! So whether or not the sun puts his hat on, the SS14 collection from Céline guarantees that you’ll definitely be shining brightly!
