MFW: ‘JOHN RICHMOND IS THE KING OF RUNWAY-ROCK- ‘N’-ROLL…!’

By now, the eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed that the Fashion-Week juggernaut has moved on from Milan to Paris!

However, I simply could not leave without bringing you a brief glimpse of the short-sharp-shock-of-a-show, which was dealt by the rock ‘n’ roll, ready-to-wear virtuoso, himself…. John Richmond!

An insitiution in all-things-avant-garde, his collection was a good, old, booster-shot-in-the-arm, perfect to combat any flagging fashion-fatigue!

A Siouxsie Sioux soundtrack enforced the mandate with ‘Hong Kong Garden’ and we were off but rather than tell you what there was, howsabout I tell you what there was not?!

NO BALLET FLATS, NO EXPANSIVE PASTEL-PALETTE AND NO FEAR!!!

Forty-seven ‘stories’ all-but snarled the campaign at onlookers, eniticing them into a web of clinging body-con, thoroughly-modern, leather-trimmed minis and defiantly-sheer, backless maxis. Collarless jackets were given ‘number-one’ crops and the gentility of the tuxedo was suitably shaken-up by a razor-sharp cigarette-pant. Necklines plunged into bustiers, only to re-surface at square-cut, right-angles, accentuated by spiked necklaces. Motifs moved from ancient-aztec and animal-prints to monchrome-diamonds and sporty-stripes, with finer detail extracted through satin-trimmed hemlines and laser-cut lace-on-leather. Albeit selective, the minimal use of colour was no less impressive, with lime-twist and acid-orange clutch-bags, accessorised against monochromatic backdrops and the showing of a pink-sherbet, aztec-print, minidress, interspersed with metallic silver/gold bead-embellishment was a perfect trend-amalgamation.

Topped-and-tailed with just-got-out-of bed hair and zebra-striped stilettoes, John Richmond let the world know that, he truly is the King of Runway-Rock- ‘n’-Roll……completely!
